The Customised Palatal Appliance (CPA)
The palatal appliance is a device that widens the upper dental arch and the palate to restore balance between the width of the jaws, thereby restoring good contact between the upper and lower teeth.
How the CPA works
The device works with the activation of a cylinder that we have created tailor-made for your child. The first activation can take place after a few days of adaptation. An activation will be performed every two weeks for the duration of the expansion. The key goes into the hole at the front of the cylinder, pushing it back until it stops, it will allow minimal activation. A slight sensation of tension may be felt.
This custom-made device is mostly removable, so your child can remove it momentarily if it disturbs them. There are prefabricated devices, but we do not offer those because they are less efficient.
A check of the processing and adjustment of the plates should be carried out every 4 to 6 weeks. At first, for a few days, the following side effects may appear:
Regarding hygiene, the PPM should be removed to brush your teeth.
